Marin Municipal Water District (MMWD) is a public utility providing drinking water to 190,000 people located in a 147 square-mile area of Marin County. In operation since 1912, MMWD is the oldest municipal water district in California.


We have an exciting opportunity available for a Water Quality Intern!


This assignment is for a 40-hour week. Duration of assignment is for up to six (6) months. The position operates out of MMWD's Corte Madera location.

The Position:


Water Quality Intern


(1 position) Under direction of the Water Quality Laboratory Manager, assists in various laboratory and field operations, such as distribution system and reservoir water sampling, sample receipt and data entry in LIMS, bottle set-up, glassware/general house cleaning, reservoir algae investigations and treatments and additional miscellaneous water quality tasks. This intern will assist with analyses such as pH, conductivity, color and turbidity and will learn a lot about the analytical requirements of a drinking water lab. Equipment used for this internship includes pH meter, colorimeter, turbid meter, office equipment and others. Safety Boots required.


Typical work hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This position is for up to a six (6) month duration at the Corte Madera location.


Anticipated Start Date: Late June/early July 2023.


Qualifications:


Must be 18 years old or older and have a California Driver's License with satisfactory driving record.


Education and knowledge in the areas of biology, biochemistry, chemistry, environmental science, and or water quality. Must be detail oriented, possess good problem solving skills, ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, as well as have the ability to lift 50 pounds. Candidate should have a working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office. LIMS experience is a plus.
