Fairfield-Suisun Sewer District (FSSD) is currently seeking a candidate to fill a full-time position for an Operations Supervisor.

Examples of Duties

Under general direction, the Operations Supervisor ($72.46 - $80.51 per hour) is a professional position that plans, trains, directs, and participates in the work of staff responsible for the operation and control of the wastewater treatment system; coordinates an operations team's areas of responsibilities, including but not limited to assigning duties, evaluating performance of work, providing training and mentorship, and performing work of subordinates; ensures that division operations functions meet all applicable laws, regulations, and District policies; performs a variety of technical tasks relative to the operations of the wastewater treatment plant facilities and systems; and performs other duties as assigned.

The Operations Supervisor position is a working supervisor position requiring a higher level of experience and knowledge than lower-level operator positions, providing technical and supervisory leadership.

Typical Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
A high school diploma or equivalent. Associates degree is preferred. Bachelor's degree or higher in biology, chemistry, engineering, environmental, business or management related field highly desirable.

AND

Experience:
Eight (8) years of experience in a wastewater treatment plant including three (3) years as a Wastewater Plant Operator Senior or equivalent position. Knowledge and demonstrated competency of advanced activated sludge processes such as BNR, UV disinfection, Title 22 & 23 and CFR 503 regulations, and anaerobic digestion is required.

OR

An equivalent combination of training, education and experience which has provided the employee the required knowledge, skills/abilities, and attributes necessary to perform the work (with reasonable accommodation, if needed).

License/Certificate:
Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license and safe driving record.
Must possess a Grade V Wastewater Plant Operator's Certificate from the California State Water Resources Control Board.

Failure to possess and maintain the required license(s) and/or certificate(s) may be cause for discipline up to and including termination.
