Position Description
Dublin San Ramon Services District, a special district in the San Francisco Bay Area that provides water, wastewater and recycled water services, is recruiting for a Mechanic I/II. The full salary range is $7,148.00 – $9,558.00 Monthly with a generous benefit and paid time off package.
Position and Ideal Candidate
This Mechanic I/II vacancy is in the Mechanic Maintenance Division of the Operations Department. This position may be filled at the Mechanic I or II level.
Under direct or general supervision learns and performs a variety of routine to complex duties in support of the Operations Department including semiskilled and skilled work in the installation, repair, and maintenance of the District's water and wastewater pump, treatment, pressure, flow regulating, and related equipment including sand filtration, micro-filtration, reverse osmosis, and ultraviolet systems; performs minor and major mechanical repairs to gasoline and/or diesel powered automotive, heavy construction, and other combustion equipment; and performs other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will have several years of recent automotive mechanical experience including knowledge of and experience with trucks, hydraulics and other gas and diesel powered equipment as well as experience with automotive electrical wiring systems and components. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills, the ability to work independently, be a self-starter and possess exceptional attention to detail. Experience in facilities maintenance and possession of a Class A driver's license is desirable.

Position Qualifications
Training and Experience
Mechanic I
Equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade
One (1) year of increasingly responsible work experience involving the repair and maintenance of gas and diesel powered equipment or vehicles, industrial equipment, or pumps.
Mechanic II
Equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade
Two (2) years of increasingly responsible work experience involving the repair and maintenance of industrial equipment, pumps or automotive equipment repair, comparable to a Mechanic I.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations
Possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License is required.
When assigned to Fleet and Facilities Maintenance, possession and maintenance of the Class A driver's license with tanker and air brake endorsements, required by the State of California, Department of Motor Vehicles, is required within one (1) year of appointment.
Mechanic I
Possession and maintenance of California Water Environment Association Mechanical Technologist Grade I certification is required within two (2) years of appointment.
Mechanic II
Possession and maintenance of California Water Environment Association Mechanical Technologist Grade I certification is required upon appointment. Possession and maintenance of California Water Environment Association Mechanical Technologist Grade II certification is required within two (2) years of appointment.

Additional Requirements
Incumbents are required to participate in the District's Shave-on-Demand policy when required to wear respiratory protection or other safety equipment.
