Come get your "feet wet" at Zone 7 Water Agency! Gain valuable work experience with an exciting paid Intern opportunity supporting our Integrated Planning Section!

SALARY: $25.52- $30.99/Hourly (effective 06/23/2024: $26.29-$31.92/ Hourly)

THE AGENCY: Zone 7 supplies treated drinking water to retailers serving over a quarter million people in the Tri-Valley area including the cities of Pleasanton, Livermore, Dublin and, through special agreement with the Dublin San Ramon Services District, to the Dougherty Valley area. Additionally, we supply untreated water directly to agricultural businesses for irrigation of 3,500 acres, primarily South Livermore Valley vineyards. We also maintain 37 miles of local flood-protection channels; about a third of all the Valley's channels and creeks.

Duties: This full-time paid summer intern assignment, approximately mid-June to mid-to-late August, will support the agency's Integrated Planning section by assisting with projects and tasks such as:

• Water supply planning for urban and agriculture users and regional water conservation programs


• Mapping using GIS


• Data Compilation


• Ongoing water management studies using ESRI software suite of desktop and web-based GIS tools


• Engage with technical experts to understand their duties at Zone 7 and how GIS and data management tools supports their work in water resources management

Clear training and objectives will be provided to develop skills for potential career opportunities in the water utility industry.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Current enrollment or recent graduation (within last year) from a college or university, and successful completion of the equivalent of 30 semester (45 quarter) units of classwork


• Possession of a valid California Driver's License


• Ability to work in the field and office as needed
