Job Description / Summary

Bluewater is seeking a California-certified Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator (Treatment Level II or higher) to serve as Operations Lead for a private industrial beneficial water treatment facility in Antioch, CA.

The facility treats oilfield produced water using a combination of chemical treatment, filtration, and advanced treatment processes to produce beneficial-use water. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for both day-to-day plant operation and overall site execution, including chemical management, maintenance planning, risk mitigation, and site readiness.

The Operations Lead will have high autonomy, clear authority, and responsibility for ensuring safe, compliant, and reliable operation of the site in a private-sector environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor wastewater treatment systems treating oilfield produced water
• Adjust treatment processes in response to variable influent conditions
• Ensure treated water meets quality objectives and permit requirements
• Act as the on-site Operations Lead for daily plant and site activities
• Order and manage treatment chemicals, consumables, and operating supplies
• Maintain chemical inventories and coordinate deliveries
• Develop and maintain preventive maintenance plans
• Coordinate routine and corrective maintenance activities
• Identify, assess, and mitigate operational, environmental, and safety risks
• Maintain operating logs, maintenance records, and compliance documentation
• Coordinate with contractors and service vendors as required
• Support system optimization and continuous improvement efforts
• Serve as the primary on-site technical contact

Minimum Qualifications

• California Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Grade II (or higher), active and in good standing
• Experience operating treatment systems independently
• Working knowledge of chemical treatment and dosing
• Experience with filtration systems and solids/sludge handling
• Ability to manage variable and industrial influent streams
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong documentation and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Grade III certification
• Oilfield produced water, industrial wastewater, or high-TDS influent experience
• Experience with Chemical treatment, RO, UF, AO or GAC systems
• Prior experience as a lead operator, senior operator, or site lead
• Maintenance planning and vendor coordination experience
