Occasional Saturdays 8:00am - 2:00pm

25 hours per week | $25.01 - $30.63 per hour

ABOUT THE POSITION

Join our team and help keep our Recreation Center a clean, safe, and welcoming space for everyone in the community! As a Custodian, you'll be a key part of our day-to-day operations, taking pride in ensuring our facilities are well-maintained and ready for all activities. Your work will include cleaning and maintaining floors, restrooms, and common areas, setting up and taking down equipment for programs and events, opening and closing facilities (including locking and securing buildings), performing light repairs, and completing small work-related maintenance projects independently. You'll operate a variety of tools and equipment, both indoors and outdoors, and will also drive to and from various City facilities to complete assigned tasks. Every day, your efforts will directly contribute to creating an enjoyable and safe experience for our visitors.

We're looking for a dependable, hardworking individual who cares about doing the job right and take pride in their work. This position requires the ability to lift up to 75 pounds, use cleaning and maintenance equipment safely, and work flexible hours—including evenings, weekends, and occasional emergency call-backs. A valid California driver's license and a safe driving record are required.

KEY RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Clean and maintain floors, restrooms, windows, furniture, and common areas.
  • Open, close, and lock facilities for programs, events, and public use.
  • Set up and take down tables, chairs, and equipment for events.
  • Perform minor repairs and small maintenance projects independently.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and custodial equipment safely.
  • Remove trash and litter inside and outside facilities.
  • Drive to and from City facilities to complete assigned work.
  • Ensure building safety and security, reporting any damages or concerns.
  • Maintain and store custodial equipment and supplies in good working order.
  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while performing work duties.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Any combination of education and training equivalent to high school graduation and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform custodial and maintenance work.
  • Possess and maintain a valid California Driver License and a safe driving record necessary to operate assigned vehicle (s) and/or equipment.
  • Pass a Department of Justice criminal record check for employment.
  • Pass a post-offer medical examination, which includes a drug test.
  • May be required to work variable shifts, and subject to emergency call back.
  • Prefer non-tobacco user.
