An Engineering Technician with Castro Valley Sanitary District performs a wide variety of technical field and office duties and provides operational support and assistance for the Engineering Department, including performing sanitary sewer inspections, providing technical advice to the public, maintaining engineering records, preparing reports, performing basic engineering calculations, and related work as assigned.

The successful candidate will be a self-driven professional, with the ability to establish and strengthen a wide variety of work relationships. We are looking for excellent written and oral communication skills, engaging presentation abilities, and the ability to communicate complex ideas, and meet constantly changing priorities. In addition, the ideal candidate will:

• Be an individual who is accountable, ethical, self-motivated, friendly, adaptable, and both comfortable working independently and in a team-oriented environment.
• Be detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills to perform the job functions in a constantly changing environment.
• Provide exceptional customer service support to internal and external customers and business partners.
• Be an exceptional project manager who can manage multiple competing priorities while developing effective presentations and reports.
• Perform complex construction inspections to confirm contractual compliance with engineering and construction standards. Conduct inspections of construction and repair of public and private collection system components and CVSan facilities for compliance with CVSan Code, Alameda County building regulations, the Uniform Plumbing Code, and other regulations.
• Have experience reading and reviewing project plans to determine dimensions of system and material requirements.
• Have basic skills with Microsoft Word, excel, Outlook, AutoCAD, GIS, and other data entry systems.
