About this opportunity

You'll be stationed at Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park in Big Sur, CA, reporting to the Park Maintenance Chief I. The work schedule for this role is Wednesday to Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

As the Chief Plant Operator, you'll lead the maintenance and operation program for all the Big Sur Water and Wastewater treatment plants. This includes overseeing operations at Pfieffer Big Sur State Park, Andrew Molera State Park, Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, John Little State Reserve, Limekiln State Park, and Point Sur Light Station State Historic Park. Big Sur features one Grade III Waste Water Plant and five Water Treatment facilities.

In this role, you'll oversee the operation of state park water treatment and sewage treatment plants, conduct testing, interpret results, and supervise or perform equipment maintenance and repairs among other tasks. Your responsibilities will include daily monitoring and testing of water systems, managing reporting to the State Water Resources Control Board, equipment management, and providing leadership, training, and employee development to staff.

You'll need a Grade III Wastewater, a Grade II Water Treatment, and a Grade II Water Distribution License for this position. Expect a hands-on experience that may require some heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling, but every effort will be rewarded with the satisfaction of knowing you're making a difference.
