East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) invites qualified applicants to apply for two part-time (PT) positions (up to 832 hours per year) located in the Oakland Administration Building. These positions are responsible for providing customer services to the Customer Assistance Program (CAP) staff.
Duties may include but are not limited to:
- Receiving and intaking all applications for CAP, including tracking data, verifying completeness of application, redacting sensitive information, and organizing applications and supporting documentations for processing
- Processing new CAP applications and renewals through Customer Watch
- Providing technical assistance and follow-up support for applicants
- Tracking enrollment and maintain all databases for CAP customers
- Attending outreach events (tabling, community meetings, open houses, etc.) to assist with outreach and enrollment
- Tracking outreach events and maintain outreach database.
- Processing a variety of customer account records, verifying their accuracy and completeness, arranging for correction, and forwarding information to the appropriate unit.
- Typing various forms or letters from plain or corrected copy.
- Entering data into and retrieving data from the computer system.
- Processing mailed-in customer applications using computerized high-speed equipment and imaging technology.
NOTE: The recruitment for these part-time (PT) positions will not result in the establishment of a civil service list.
Requirements:
1. Completion of the twelfth grade, or its equivalent.
2. One year of experience comparable to the class of Customer Services Representative I in EBMUD.
Bilingual language skills in Spanish, Cantonese and/or Mandarin are highly desirable.
Other requirements:
- Must possess the physical characteristics needed to perform the critical and important duties of the job, including the physical capacity to stand or sit and work using a keyboard and/or telephone for prolonged periods without a break.
- Physical capacity to reach and stoop to retrieve and sort files.
- Sufficient strength to lift and carry equipment and materials weighing up to 20 pounds; hand-eye coordination sufficient to peruse documents for pertinent information while entering data into a computer or 10-key.
- Visual acuity to read numbers, text, computer screens and computer printouts.
- Physical capacity to speak in English in order to communicate effectively.
- Hearing sufficient to communicate both in person and on the telephone.
- Manual dexterity to write, operate a keyboard and a 10-key.
