Are you a self-starter who excels at working both independently and with a team? If so, Marin Municipal Water District (District) welcomes your application for Environmental Compliance Specialist.
The Environmental Compliance Specialist is a key member of the District, ensuring the District adheres to regulatory requirements, including all Marin County Certified Unified Programs Agency (CUPA) programs, which include California Accidental Release Protection (CalARP), Aboveground Storage Tanks (AST), and Underground Storage Tanks (UST). In addition, this position will oversee all fire inspections, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), Bay Area Air Quality Management (BAAQMD) permits, and stormwater reporting for District facilities, as well reporting for National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) requirements pertaining to system discharges.
This position offers a hybrid work environment with the potential of up to two days per week working remotely. This newly created position provides the successful candidate with an exciting opportunity to shape the services provided by the District.
A few of the initial initiatives this position will be involved with are evaluating and enhancing the District's water quality and resources permitting and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications –Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in environmental or civil engineering, environmental science/studies, natural sciences, water resources, biology, chemistry, environmental health, or a closely related field AND
Three years of responsible regulatory, environmental, or related experience in one or more of the following areas: environmental permit programs; environmental laboratory operations; water quality monitoring and reporting; storm water management and watershed restoration
License: Possession of or the ability to obtain an appropriate California driver's license issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles and satisfactory driving record.

The District will tentatively hold hiring interviews the week of June 5, 2023.
