The District is seeking a full-time, temporary Laboratory Technician to assist the Laboratory and Technical Services Division.

Hours will be Monday through Friday from 8:00AM to 4:30PM.

This assignment is anticipated to last for up to six (6) months or 1000 hours, which occurs first, but may end at any time at the discretion of the District.

Performs a variety of journey-level duties in support of the Laboratory and Technical Services division including:

  • Performs and interprets chemical, microbiological, and physical analyses of samples related to potable water, recycled water, and wastewater influent and effluent, following standard procedures and guidelines.

  • Participates in the collection of samples at various sites throughout the water system and wastewater treatment plant.

  • Participates in analyzing and interpreting laboratory results, recognizing problems that maybe occurring during the analytical process.

  • Prepares standard chemical solutions and reagents for Laboratory and Operations.

  • Assembles and enters test data into laboratory database; prepares draft charts and graphs.

  • Cleans and maintains laboratory and field equipment.

  • Maintains quality control and quality assurance and follows safe work procedures within standard operating procedures and protocols.

  • Maintains accurate records of work performed and analysis results.


Minimum Requirements

  • Two years of experience in an environmental laboratory, wastewater treatment plant laboratory, industrial waste inspection or related experience

  • Must not be an active CalPERS member (CalPERS retirees are encouraged to apply)
