Under direction, the Janitor Supervisor plans, organizes, coordinates, directs, and evaluates the work of janitor foremen and janitors in cleaning buildings at various East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) sites and directs and evaluates the work of contracted cleaning and maintenance services.

Typical duties may include:

• Planning, organizing, coordinating and directing the work of janitor foremen and janitors.
• Recommending or taking action regarding discipline, performance evaluations, selection, and hiring of employees.
• Directing and evaluating overall janitorial activities provided by EBMUD staff and contractors.
• Determining needs for contract cleaning and maintenance services, evaluating prospective vendors and directing and evaluating services performed.
• Preparing, implementing, and evaluating a janitorial training program to ensure that staff receive appropriate new and refresher training in both safe and efficient work methods.
• Coordinating the evaluation of staff's usage of safe and efficient work practices through subordinate foreman.
• Determining the need for and recommending purchase of janitorial supplies and equipment.
• Traveling to EBMUD facilities to conduct daily walk through inspections of buildings and grounds at the beginning and end of shifts, noting needs for cleaning, maintenance, and repairs; directing or requesting responses to those needs as appropriate, including ensuring timely reporting, preparation of work orders, coordination of prioritization with other work group supervisors, and placement of customer service signage at repair locations.
• Directing, moving, and rearranging of furniture for meetings and other events.
• Directing the maintenance, repair, and replacement of janitorial tools, equipment, and materials.
• Assisting in directing emergency operations or building evacuation procedures.

The salary range is $8,752 per month increasing to $9,190, $9,650, and $10,133 after 6, 18, and 30 months, respectively.

Requirements:

1. A high school diploma; AND

2a. Two years of experience in directing or supervising the regular performance of a broad range of janitorial work in a multi-level commercial building; OR

2b. Two years of experience directing or supervising facility maintenance and repair or other infrastructure construction and maintenance work that would have included responsibility for maintaining work site orderliness and cleanliness.

3. Possession of a valid California driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record.

Will work evening shifts, as assigned. Must be willing to work in a variety of weather conditions and work overtime as needed.
