An immediate position is available at East Bay Municipal Utility District's (EBMUD) Pardee Center based near Valley Springs, approximately 85 miles from EBMUD headquarters in Oakland. Under direction, the Hydroelectric Power Plant Supervisor plans, organizes, directs and supervises the work of journey level employees engaged in the operation and maintenance of hydroelectric power plants, raw water pumping plants, water storage and conveyance, or related facilities and properties associated with EBMUD's water supply, production, and transmission system; and schedules and assists in the performance of preventative and corrective maintenance.


Typical duties include: (Illustrative only)

  • Plans, assigns, directs, and reviews the work of assigned staff; prepares work schedules and assignments according to operational or maintenance needs
  • Ensures that work completed and in progress conforms with operating standards, work orders, plans, diagrams, specifications, and codes; interprets plans, diagrams, specifications, and codes to subordinate
  • May perform any or all of the duties of a Hydroelectric Power Plant Operator or those of a Hydroelectric Power Plant Mechanic as required.
  • Develops and/or carries out an effective accident prevention and safety program including safety meetings; assures safe procedures are understood and in compliance with EBMUD, State and Federal rules; directs and performs first aid and fire prevention work.
  • Monitors daily operation and makes periodic inspections of power plant, raw water pumping plant, auxiliary and standby equipment; diagnose or assists in the diagnoses of operational problems; may make periodic test of power plants and other equipment.
  • Participates in hiring interviews; develops hiring questions and hiring documentation; monitors employee performance; prepares and conducts counseling, discipline, and performance appraisals for assigned staff; trains subordinates in proper work methods and procedures: recommends and assists in implementing work process improvements.
  • Prepares, maintains, or ensures the maintenance of operational and maintenance records, reports, inspections, and other activities; assists in the budget preparation and cost monitoring; prepares purchase requests for equipment; may conduct authorized visitor's tour.

The salary range is $11,388 per month increasing to $11,957, $12,555, and $13,183 after 6, 18, and 30 months, respectively.


*Please note: the salary ranges listed previously may change due to an anticipated CPI-based salary increase of 3.4% effective in late April 2024. Salary increase is subject to approval by the EBMUD Board of Directors.

Requirements:
1. A high school diploma; and,
2. Three years of experience in the operation or maintenance of hydroelectric power plant equipment at a level comparable to or higher than the EBMUD classification of Hydroelectric Power Plant Operator II or Hydroelectric Power Plant Mechanic.
