The City of Vallejo is located in Solano County and has a population of approximately 120,000. Vallejo and the surrounding community cover almost 54 square miles (30 square miles on land and 24 square miles of waterway). The City is a rapidly changing, highly diverse community located between the cities of Sacramento and San Francisco. The General Manager provides direction to the District's Leadership Team, and monitors its overall operations. This at-will position reports to and receives general direction from the Board of Trustees. The General Manager provides leadership and direction to a team of Department Heads including Engineering, Operations, Field Operations, Environmental Services, Finance, and Human Resources/Risk Management.

The General Manager directs, manages, and administers all District activities, which includes 95 fulltime equivalent positions and responsibility for effectively managing and implementing a $40 million dollar annual operating budget and $261 million dollar 10-year CIP budget.

The ideal candidate for this position will possess a strong understanding of wastewater treatment processes and the ability to think strategically with "big picture" ideas and implementation strategies. The successful candidate will also have a continuous improvement focus to drive sustained organizational excellence, while effectively adapting to and managing new challenges and unforeseen issues.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in Civil Engineering, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a closely related field. A Master's Degree and/or Professional Engineer license is highly desired.

A minimum of ten (10) years' experience responsibility in civil engineering or water or wastewater capital improvement planning, construction, and secondary wastewater treatment plant operations and/or maintenance experience with at least five (5) years of executive level management experience. Public sector experience is highly desirable.
