About Next Gen Career Pathway's Summer Internships:

The 2026 College Summer Internship Program offers students nationwide a chance to gain practical experience while exploring careers in the water industry. Each intern will have a Valley Water staff mentor and will receive professional development training, participate in networking events, and prepare a capstone presentation at the end of the program. Although some positions in the program will follow a hybrid format, with a mix of in-office and remote work based on business needs, other roles may require interns to work on-site full-time in a lab, office, or field setting, as specified in the job postings.

About The General Accounting Unit:

The General Accounting Unit ensures the integrity of the District's financial records, monitors expenditures against budgetary allotments, and reports on the organization's financial status. Acting on behalf of Valley Water, the unit ensures compliance with accounting standards, federal and state regulatory requirements, and Valley Water policies. It provides accurate and timely financial information; payroll and disbursement services, and revenue collection for Valley Water; reconciles financial systems with bank accounts; prepares required financial reports, including the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) and the Financial Transaction Report (FTR); and coordinates the annual external audit.

INTERNSHIP LOCATION STATUS: This internship will be reporting in-person 100% of the time. This position is not eligible for a hybrid telework schedule. The intern is expected to report to the office for the duration of the internship.
