The Summer 2025 Internship Program will provide interns with training and experience leveraging collaboration tools while either working on-site or hybrid. Summer Interns will be given one-on-one mentorship, professional development training and an hourly pay of $26.31. At the end of the program interns are to prepare and present a Capstone presentation to share their experience and achievements.
About The CADD Services Unit:
The CADD Services Unit provides quality engineering, graphic, and presentation services in support of planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of the District's critical infrastructure, as well as manage the District's computer- aided drafting and design systems.
INTERNSHIP LOCATION STATUS: This internship will be reporting in-person. This position is not eligible for a hybrid telework schedule. The intern is expected to work from the office for the duration of the internship.
Required License or Certificate
WE LOOK FOR INTERNS WHO ARE:
- Pursuing a major in Engineering, CADD, or other related fields.
- Have taken some coursework in civil engineering, AutoCAD, and design, etc.
- Have knowledge of principles and practices regarding computer-aided drafting and design, AutoCAD, engineering calculations, methods, techniques of map-making, and interpreting construction drawings.
- Have experience with computer software applications, such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, ArcGIS, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil3D, AutoCAD Raster is ideal.
AS AN INTERN YOU WILL:
- Participate in biweekly learning sessions held every other Friday alongside fellow interns, focusing on elevating career readiness and cultivating professional development skills.
- Assist with a variety of technical duties in preparing, presenting, creating, and updating engineering and technical drawings, maps, graphics, visual aids, and presentation materials.
- Learn to prepare, create, update, and review technical maps, drawings, visual aids, graphic presentations, drafting materials, and other items as needed for a variety of District engineering, land development, and construction projects.
- Learn the importance of each drawing milestone phase (30%, 60%, 90%) along with revise drawings during design, construction, addendum, and as-built phases.
- Assist in researching, collecting, and analyzing documentation concerning the location, dimensions, areas, quantity calculations, alignment and control generation, and other technical data from public records, title reports, survey notes, aerial images, photographs, and format data for presentation materials and graphic displays.
- Assist in conducting site visits, inspections, and investigations to obtain and verify water resources.
Selection Process
ELIGIBILITY:
The Summer Internship Program is open to undergraduate & graduate students who are third year and above enrolled in a college/university for Fall 2025.
- Pass a pre-employment screening process, including a background check.
- Proof of enrollment will be required prior to start of assignment.
- Can work full-time (40 hours/week) during the Summer Internship Program
- May 27 - August 15, 2025 (Semester Students)
- June 16 - September 5, 2025 (Quarter Students)
