Marin Water is seeking is seeking applicants for the position of Field Pipeline Locator Intern! This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience working with a community oriented organization that is committed to contributing to the well-being of the environment!

The District:

The District is a medium-sized, municipal, water agency with a Board of Directors/General Manager form of government, 245 full-time employees and a $143.2 million combined annual operating and capital budget for FY 2024. Annually, the District delivers water to over 190,000 residents and businesses in the central and southern portions of Marin County and has stewardship responsibilities for 21,000 acres of pristine watershed lands on Mt. Tamalpais.

The Position:

This position is in the Records Department and will require field locating of MMWD underground pipelines and facilities using a Metro Tech 810 DX inductive locator. The work will be done in roadways and on steep slopes, which will require proper safety gear and safety practices. In addition, this work will require the ability to interpret GIS mapping data and record drawings to properly identify the location of the underground water lines. Good communications skills are necessary in order to report and resolve discrepancies found in the field.

Work hours will be Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Duration of assignment is for up to six (6) months. The position operates out of MMWD's Corte Madera location. Safety Boots required.

Qualifications:

Must be at least 18 years old and have a valid California Driver's License with satisfactory driving record.

Detail-oriented, Microsoft Word, Excel, Windows. Good organizational skills, data entry, GIS, basic understanding of electronics and knowledge of information technology (IT). Ability to work independently. Ability to lift 50 pounds. Must be a team player. Applicant should have recent college coursework in related field (engineering, geography, GIS, water operations, construction management, etc.).

This assignment is temporary, seasonal, hourly, and non-exempt, and individual hired in this assignment can be terminated at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice, at the option of either the District or employee.
