SALARY:
Collection System Worker-in-Training - $27.52 - $36.90 per hour
Collection System Worker I - $32.72 - $43.85 per hour
Collection System Worker II - $36.93 - $49.47 per hour

DESCRIPTION
The Napa Sanitation District is currently accepting applications for a full-time position of Collection System Worker-in- Training, Collection System Worker I, or Collection System Worker II.
Under direct supervision of the Collections System Supervisor or Manager, the CSWIT, CSWI, and CSWII will perform a variety of work in the maintenance and repair of wastewater collection system. Example duties include installing and repairing main and lateral connections; operating hydro-cleaning and rodding equipment; install and clean manholes, cleanouts and other drainage facilities; inspect underground wastewater collection pipes, lateral connections and appurtenances using closed circuit television equipment to locate leaks, breaks and roots; respond to customer calls for service, and maintain accurate records of work performed. The CSWIT is a training level class.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
Ability to: Perform work related to the following: installation, inspection, maintenance and repair of underground sewer lines; servicing and minor maintenance on a variety of stationary and mobile equipment; respond effectively to emergency situations and troubleshoot such situations; safely use hand and power tools related to the work; drive and operate all District vehicles; make accurate mathematical calculations; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience: CSWIT - Equivalent to graduation from high school. No experience required. CSWI - Equivalent to graduation from high school and one year's experience as a Collection System Worker-in-training with Napa Sanitation District (the District) or two years' experience installing or maintaining underground sewer, water or storm drain pipelines. CSWII – Equivalent to graduation from high school and completion of a proficiency skills training program as determined by the District, and two years' experience as a Collection System Worker I with the District or three years of semi-skilled maintenance experience in wastewater collection systems at a level equivalent to that of a CSWI at the District.
License: CSWIT – Possession of a Class "C" CA driver's license and satisfactory driving record, and the ability to obtain a Class "B" license within six months of hire. CSWI & CSWII - Possession of a valid Class "B" California Driver's License and satisfactory driving record.
Certificate: CSWIT: Must obtain a California Grade I Wastewater Collection Maintenance certificate within two (2) years of appointment. CSWI: Must possess a California Grade I Wastewater Collection Maintenance Certificate or obtain one within one (1) year of appointment. CSWII: Must possess a California Grade II Wastewater Collection System Maintenance Certificate.
Other Requirements: Must be available for standby and response to off-hours emergency situations. Work requires outside exposure to all weather conditions with dust, noise, traffic, and some potentially hazardous materials.
Applicant must pass a background check, pre-employment drug screen and physical.
BENEFITS AND OTHER INFORMATION
Vacation: 10 days per year, 15 days after 3 years with incremental increases to 25 days
Sick Leave: 12 days per year
Personal Leave: 28 hours per year
Holidays: 13 days per year
Health Plan: Choice of several plans with employer paid premiums up to the appropriate Kaiser rate.
Dental Plan: Available after 3 months of employment with 100% employer paid premiums for employee and eligible dependents
Vision Plan: Available after 6 months of employment with 100% employer paid premiums for employee and eligible dependents
Long Term Disability: Available first of the month following 30 days of employment with 100% employer paid premiums
Retirement: Public Employee's Retirement System (CalPERS): Classic Member's formula - 2.0% at 55, one- year final compensation. Employee's share of PERS retirement is 7.0%. PEPRA members – 2 % at 62 formula and three-year average on final compensation. Employee's share of PERS retirement is currently at 8.25%.
Social Security: District employees do not pay social security taxes
Life Insurance: Available after 6 months of employment with 100% employer paid premiums - $50,000 coverage
Union: Employees are members of Teamsters Local 315 Union
